Women in sTEM is back in business
After a hiatus, it's time to get back in the swing of things. Former President and now Acting President Jen Premo is working to get the organization back up and running. Collaborating with Acting Vice President Summer Chahin, they will both work hard to recruit new members and reach out to formerly interested parties. Please check this website regularly as Jen will be updating as much as possible about new developments.
The RSO will be registered for the 2017-18 academic year and members can run for officer positions on the e-board. An election ballot will be sent out or posted once members and prospective members have established interest in the organization and in running for office.
In the meantime, enjoy the summer and get excited for everything this organization will have to offer!

10.16 Movie Night
We watched COSMOS with Neil deGrasse Tyson and ate lots of pizza. There will be a lot more of these to come!
10.16 E-Board Meeting[link]
We were able to cover most of the points on the agenda during our short meeting before the movie night started.
Here is what we covered:
Here is what we covered:
- We are going to start reserving rooms around campus for e-board meetings. Locations proposed include Bernhard Center, Sangren Hall, and conference rooms within Waldo Library.
- We are (finally) in the final stages of getting our logo and poster finished by RSO Designs. President Jen Premo is in contact with RSO Designs and will be updating the group accordingly. The last draft had only chemistry equations in the background and the majority of the WiSTEM suggested more diverse equations (math, physics, engineering, etc.).
- We are still trying to brainstorm more fundraising ideas. Those on the list include T-shirt sales and food sales. Secretary Summer Chahin is in the process of designing a T-shirt for the fundraiser and for members.
- Vice President Gina Labriola will be taking care of planning a graduate student panel of about 4-5 grad students who will be discussing the preparation for and taking the GRE, getting into grad school, and answering any questions attendees may have. We are shooting for the week before Thanksgiving for this event to take place. Stay tuned for details.
- We are going to be planning a resume workshop for either next semester or the end of this semester. Stay tuned for details. Work on your resume to impress those internships to which you will be applying!
- We are hoping to collaborate with SWE (Society of Women Engineers) on many events in the future.
